Novatein is a company specializing in the development of bio-plastic technologies.

Novatein’s technologies are the result of leading research conducted at the University of Waikato under the guidance of Dr Johan Verbeek. This work has lead to the creation of high value bio degradable plastic products from low value waste streams.

Solenza was established to commercialise the unique integrated solar energy solution developed by Dr Mike Duke and his team at the University of Waikato. Solenza’s patented technology dispenses with unsightly “bolt on” solar energy panels, and instead provides a seamless solution, integrated into a buildings’ roofing structure.

Graftoss is a medical device company which is developing a range of orthopaedic devices which have bone graft and bone replacement applications.

One of these is a bone matrix product, a reinforced bone replacement implant derived from sintered bovine bone. The processed bone is reinforced with an organic biocompatible matrix, providing mechanical strength and aiding in bone regeneration.

Nouvoa is developing process technologies which will reduce waste and extract more value from biomass undergoing anaerobic digestion. The process technology will enable higher value target products of anaerobic digestion to be extracted, notably volatile organic acids (VOA’s).

Obodies offers a new paradigm in antibody technology.

Our proprietary technology enables production of synthetic antibody-like proteins known as Obodies. These molecules can be produced in vitro, are heat stable, and bind a broad range of targets including proteins and small molecules.

RuralLink is a joint venture between Waikatolink and rural IT provider Rezare Systems, and leverages the telecommunications capabilities of the WAND group. The University of Waikato's WAND networking group have been building rural community networks using this equipment since 2002.
